EXPERTISE

Madhavi has practiced with Swanson & Bratschun since April 2011. Madhavi practices Intellectual Property law with a focus on patent prosecution in the fields of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals with an emphasis in chemical practice worldwide.

Prior to joining Swanson & Bratschun, Madhavi worked in the Intellectual Property area in Biotechnology industry, most recently at Gilead Sciences, Inc., where she has prepared patentability and Freedom-to-Operate opinions and conducted due diligence in addition to patent prosecution. She has assisted with litigation and with management of licensed patent portfolios.

Prior to commencing her legal career in 2002, Madhavi worked for six years in pharmaceutical industry as a scientist, after completing a post-doctoral fellowship at Bryn Mawr College, Pennsylvania in the total synthesis of Paclitaxel. Madhavi obtained her Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, India, in Organic Synthesis in the area of synthesis of complex fatty acids. Madhavi is an inventor on sixteen US patents and a co-author on nine peer reviewed journal publications.

Madhavi enjoys hiking, trail walking, music and fine arts.
